At Northside Hospital, we value our employees’ professional experience and their lives outside of work. We care for our patients AND our employees by providing comprehensive benefits for work, life, and play. We prioritize peace of mind and wellbeing, demonstrated in the benefits we offer to employees. Hear from our team members who have first-hand experience with the benefits of working at Northside.
At Northside, we’re all about family. We support our employees as they grow their families by offering a fertility planning benefit through Progyny. Ally, supervisor for speech pathology services, used Progyny to help with the in-vitro fertilization process, and she found that the patient advocates were extremely helpful and made the process easy to understand.
“The best part about it was that I had help throughout the whole process,” she explained. “The benefit provided financial assistance, guidance on procedures, information, videos on administering medications, and more. When you’re undergoing something as complex as IVF, it’s helpful to have videos, articles, and someone you can call.”
The Progyny benefit changed Ally’s life for the better. “My wife and I would not have been able to start our family without it. It’s completely improved our lives, and we are so incredibly grateful. I truly cherish Northside and the value they place on their employees.”
Nothing’s more important than ensuring our children are cared for, loved, and safe. We’re proud to support working parents by providing childcare options.
Kristi, manager of legal services, shared her experience with the Child Development Center.
The Center offers classes from six weeks old through pre-K and summer camps. Both her children started at the Center as infants, and she loved having her kids on campus with her for many reasons, including that it streamlined the drop-off and pick-up process. “When I’d get the inevitable call that my child is sick, I could be with them in just a few minutes,” she explained.
Kristi found the tuition of the Child Development Center to be extremely reasonable compared to other childcare options in the Atlanta metro area, and she noted that the class sizes are small with great teacher-child ratios. “Tuition was taken out of my paycheck, and the Center was always accommodating with my schedule,” she said.
Though it was hard to hand over control to another caregiver when her children were babies, Kristi felt comforted that they were in loving hands, even during uncertain times. “When the pandemic hit, there were so many unknowns, and it was a difficult decision to keep my children in care outside the home. But it was absolutely the right choice for our family. I’m not sure how I would have gotten through working full-time during the pandemic without the Center,” she said. “My children loved going to the Center every day and made wonderful friends along the way.”
Kristi said the preschool prepared her son well for pre-K and kindergarten. “The STEM activities and phonics work they did prepared him for early reading!” The Center is also equipped with a great playground. Even though the Center is a lot of fun for kids, there are perks for the parents, too. Kristi said, “I made friends with some of the parents of my children’s classmates, and in some instances, I wound up working alongside them as colleagues.”
Giving back to the community is a big deal at Northside, so we provide opportunities for our employees to get involved through the Northside Hospital Foundation!
The program helps employees who may be having a hard time, as well as women facing breast cancer, miracle babies, and more. Volunteers work closely with the Foundation’s coordinator, who sends requests ahead of events asking for volunteers. The volunteers fill out forms noting their preferences for times, tasks, and shifts.
Stephanie, marketing specialist for the Northside Hospital Sleep Disorders Center, has volunteered many times with the program. “The volunteer coordinator, Ana, does her best to place volunteers at their desired location for their desired time. My three favorite events are The Foundation Charity Golf Tournament, Tennis Against Breast Cancer, and Wine, Women & Shoes. The events always fill up fast, though, so you have to fill out the volunteer interest form fast to guarantee your spot!”
Stephanie’s favorite part of the volunteering benefit is the people. “The people at Northside Hospital’s Foundation are more than co-workers – they’re true friends! I’ve met and become friends with people I would never have met without volunteering,” she said. “The opportunities and relationships I have developed through this program are immeasurable. Plus, it’s a great feeling to meet people you’ve helped. I’m truly thankful to Ana and the staff at the Foundation for trusting me to help with their events.”
Financial wellbeing is another way Northside supports our employees, and our Student Loan Repayment Program allows our employees to enjoy extra assistance in paying their student loans – freeing up funds for educational growth or for their personal budget.
Tamara, senior employment recruiter, said that the Student Loan Repayment Program is the perfect example of the organizational values, commitment, and recognition Northside provides to its employees. “I personally feel supported because it clearly demonstrates that my employer cares about my financial well-being,” she said. “It’s definitely had a positive impact on me. The additional assistance has provided financial freedom and allowed me to pay off my loan much faster.” The Student Loan Repayment Program has provided Tamara peace of mind and long-term financial stability.
At Northside, we believe in caring for our employees as we care for our patients. From childcare benefits to the Student Loan Repayment Program, we want to help our employees achieve a rewarding balance at work and outside of work. You can become part of our team, too.
