Hello, my name is Victor. I'm on the Float Pool-LPNs. And I'm gonna be explaining some of the duties performed by a Float Pool Nurse. We travel to different floors, such as Med Surg, Emergency Department, Cardiac floors, infusions, and even the COVID testing tent. We work alongside our RN coworkers, House Coordinators, Care Coordinators, Providers, Charge Nurses. We're all trying to get patients back to optimal levels of health. We perform different duties, such as medication administration, all facets of patient care, as well as discharging patients. We all work together for one singular goal to help support our patients and get them back to optimal health. It's a great environment, great duties, great job. And you'll love everyone at Northside and like one big family. We all support each other through the goods and the bads and everyone is one, big family.

Day in the life of a float pool nurse. I will head to the house coordinator's office in the morning on my scheduled day. I will pick up my assignment sheet. It'll tell me where I'm going, which is basically wherever the hospital is needing a nurse for staffing and to take care of patients. Sometimes it's the ER, sometimes it's different floors. I will then head to that floor, check in with the charge nurse, get my assignment from them for the day, get reports. My manager will come around on me once, sometimes twice. Make sure we're okay. And we always have their phone number that we can call if we have an issue. After I work on the floor, I will give reports, stop by the house coordinator's office on the way home, and clock out and do it again the next day. Always something different, which is great.
