OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
Requires ability to float as needed to designated locations based on staffing needs. Competency in stereotactic biopsy and/or ability to competently perform QC related to mammography. Additionally, this position is characterized by the ability to perform all types of mammography studies to include needle localization and ductograms. Works in areas requiring autonomy and indirect supervision.
Competently performs stereotactic procedures and/or performs QC related to mammography including required documentation.
Performs all types of mammography imaging to include needle localization, lymph node injections and ductograms. May assist physician with biopsy and aspiration procedures, practicing sterile technique as required. Sets up sterile trays with all supplies and instruments required for procedures.
Performs bone densitometry.
Understands and performs within the guidelines of all pertinent regulatory agencies (ACR/FDA).
Ability to float as needed to designated locations based on staffing needs.
Evaluates images for abnormalities and identifies areas requiring additional imaging in conjunction with the Radiologist.
Communicates with and follows direction of the Radiologist.
Communicates and educates the patient before, during and after exam to include post-procedure instructions.
Reports any work-related problems or concerns to Supervisor and initiates service ticket or corrective reporting.
Determines proper technical factors and adjusts mammography equipment accordingly.
Assesses patient condition throughout procedures and observes for and reports adverse events.
Completes all functions required for documentation and charging (i.e., computer system, etc.).
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions to appropriate person.
