Position Description
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as a role model related to scheduling appointments, the assignment of physician orders and maintains productivity based on scheduled and unscheduled patient appointments.
- Participates in daily operating procedures. Provides assistance with product inventory maintenance.
- Conducts inventory transactions accurately and efficiently according to departmental policies.
- Receives and screens calls, visitors and patient appointments. Handles routine or difficult matters, researching and resolving patient concerns. Routes others appropriately.
- Routinely works with sensitive or confidential information, documents, issues, provides information regarding other Northside services and/or providers as needed.
- Maintains technical training in the use of products pertinent to the management of complex patient health conditions related to compression and mastectomy scope of services (annual maintenance of BOC or ABC certification).
- Maintain skill and techniques for the management of complex compression garment and patient health conditions.
- Provides patient education relating to specific products available and the proper use and application of such products.
- Stays up-to-date with new products and training from vendors and product sourcing.
- Serves as a role model for all procedures associated with patient fittings, daily operations, documentation and product inventory.
- Demonstrates problem solving and decision-making skills; serves as a role model of excellence in customer service skills evidenced by low product return rates, high patient satisfaction surveys and chart audit scores.
- Serves as a preceptor, training and orienting new staff members.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to manager.
- Maintains a clean, neat and safe environment, in compliance with infection control and other applicable policies.
- May witness patient signature of consent forms.
Position Requirements
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills; serves as a role model of excellence in customer service skills evidenced by low product return rates, high patient satisfaction surveys and chart audit scores.
3. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, exercise independent judgment and maintain confidentiality.
4. Must be proficient in the use of personal computer, word processing software such as Microsoft Office.
5. Must have completed one or both:
a) Compression Fitters must complete a Certificate of Training from five (5)
Manufacturers and two (2) Certificates of Training. Must be advanced level training.
b) Mastectomy Fitters must complete four (4) Certificates of Basic Training and one (1) Certificate of Advanced training and obtain ABC or BOC Certification.
6. Must have two (2) years of direct patient experience as a fitter in the areas of expertise specific to A Wellness Place and proficiently carry out responsibilities associated with patients who present with a complex health condition.
7. Current BLS card (CPR).
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED
1. One (1) or two (2) years of college education
2. Prior healthcare and/or retail experience.
3. Cosmetologist (certified or apprentice).
4. Insurance Verification and or billing experience.
