Position Description
Under the supervision of the HIS OP Coding Reimbursement/Coordination, the Coder I will be responsible for producing accurate codes to assigned department(s) record utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems for ancillary services.
Position Requirements
REQUIRED:
1. High School diploma or equivalent required Minimum two years’ experience in acute healthcare setting, preferred. Coding credentials, i.e. CCS, COC, CCS-P, CPC, RHIT, and RHIA preferred.
2. Working knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle functions, including documentation, coding and billing guidelines preferred.
3. Ability to accurately apply ICD-10 diagnosis, procedures and CPT/HCPCs procedure codes preferred.
4. Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pharmacology required.
Ability to use computers effectively.
5. Excellent communication skills, including written and oral, teaching and presentation skills required.
6. Knowledge of EMR (Cerner, EPIC) Knowledge of various encoders (Optum, Clintegrity, Compliance 360 and 3M), to include knowledge of CAC system.
PREFERRED:
1. Credentials from AHIMA or AAPC Three + years coding experience in multispecialty Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in Acute Care, CPT-ICD-10-CM codes.
2. Previous experience with compliance software.
3. Previous imaging system and/or HBOC products. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY THE STATE OF GEORGIA
