To be successful as a respiratory therapist you just really want to stay up to date on everything whether that be new oxygen devices, new ventilators, new modes on ventilators. You always wanna stay up to date on all those things, and especially stay up to date on new medications that are coming out. And always continue your education to stay advanced in the field to move up if that's what you are wanting to do. Other than that, always ask questions with your peers and the people you work with, because they will stand behind you 100% to make sure you are a successful therapist. Never give up. Treat your patients how you wanna be treated and act like they're your loved one because you are impacting their lives and they may impact yours. And that's about the best advice I could give somebody to be successful in this career.

When you work together in a department, you feel like you're a family. and in that family, we get to spend time together every single day. We spend a lot of time focusing on life events with each other, so that could be celebrating a birth, celebrating a graduation, an anniversary. That could be doing an event together, like the March of Dimes. So doing all those things together creates a bond, and that makes it feel like we're a family at work, even though we all have families at home. So that kind of engagement is where it feels like we're linking arms together. We're working really, really hard, but we also really care about each other, and we want to do the best for each other.
