Northside Hospital has a new career program that offers more options, flexibility, and control in a variety of clinical careers. It’s called Choice+ and it provides the opportunity for clinical professionals to craft their own careers based on their clinical expertise, how much they work, and where they work.
For Choice+ participants, it really is the best of both worlds. They enjoy the variety, flexibility, and increased compensation often found with a traveler assignment, plus the reputation, resources, and stability of a career with Northside Hospital – one of the nation’s top health systems.
According to respiratory therapist and Choice+ program participant Russ Nevil
“A lot of it had to do with receiving a better salary than you might have with a typical full-time position, plus greater flexibility. I only have to work twenty-four hours per week.”
Surgical technologist, Lettice Antoine also appreciates the flexibility that Choice+ provides her.
“Choice+ offers flexibility with your schedule, so I’m able to pick any two days out of the week that are in my schedule and work those shifts.”
One-time nurse traveler and current Choice+ participant,
Nita Hudson enjoys the stability of working with one hospital system. As Nita says, “It was a good opportunity for me to come off the road and be home for the holidays!”
And because the program is a series of 13-week commitments, Choice+ gives participants the chance to explore and enjoy Northside’s career advantages without making a long-term commitment.
How does Choice+ work? Currently, Choice+ is open to registered nurses, respiratory therapists, surgical technologists, mammography techs and radiology techs. There are plans to expand to other clinical roles in the future. Participants are able to craft their careers and compensation based on these choices:
Shifts
- Weekday days and nights
- Weekend days and nights
Coverage Zones
- Atlanta
- Cherokee
- Duluth
- Forsyth
- Gwinnett
Registered nurses are also able to grow their compensation by achieving clinical competencies in these specialties:
- Critical Care
- Emergency
- Med Surg
- Oncology: BMT, Infusion, Oncology
- Surgical Services: Pre-Op, OR, PACU
- Women’s Health: L&D, FCC, NICU
More shifts, locations, and competencies mean greater compensation potential.
But it’s not just increased pay and flexibility. Unlike travelers and those working through registries, Choice+ participants enjoy being true members of the Northside team. As Lettice Antoine has discovered, “At Northside, they show by their actions that they really care about you.”
When considering where to take your clinical career, Lettice sums it up best. “I’ve done a lot of traveling. I’ve been in a lot of different hospitals and agencies, and Choice+ offers the best package of advantages.”
