What I always recommend to anyone who is wanting to interview at Northside is just to be authentic and be yourself. I mean, the hiring managers are looking for somebody to, obviously, fill the role who has the qualifications for the position, but just being yourself really just allows them to have that personal connection with you and really see like, "Oh, can I see myself working "with this person on a day-to day-basis?" And just how that would look and, really, I guess another tip would be just to really have patience throughout the process. It can take a little bit of time and everything but just like to go ahead and tell people just have patience. It really goes a long way.

The patient population on our unit varies pretty greatly, because we see so many different types of surgeries. We could have patients that are pretty sick and have a lot of comorbidities, to someone who's just experiencing their first surgery first time in the hospital ever. As far as age ranges, most of our patients can be anywhere from late teenager to all the way up in their 80s. We've had patients on our unit that are deaf or hard of hearing, blind patients. We also get lots of patients that speak different languages on our unit, so we use interpretation services on a pretty frequent occasions as well. So we see lots of different folks on our unit and that's one of the things I like about it, is I get to work with lots of different people.
