At Northside, we believe in building leaders from the ground up by giving them clear and attainable goals and the training and support they need to reach them.
That commitment is one reason we’ve introduced the Service Technical Excellence Program (also known as STEP) to provide a clear path of career growth for our Environmental Service professionals.
In any healthcare system, it is this Environmental Services team that helps ensure the safety of everyone through their commitment to keeping our facilities clean and free from infections and other biohazards.
In addition to providing a ladder for moving up professionally, STEP also will aid in the recruitment and retention of dedicated professionals who can contribute to our mission of improving life for our patients. STEP involves five levels based on key attributes and milestones that build on each other as the employee moves ahead.
Level One calls for excellence in service, compassion for patients and dedication to patient satisfaction. Level Two adds a commitment to three days of additional training. Level Three adds a CHEST or CSCT certification to the mix.
Employees who move on to Level Four will need to show leadership qualities and a passion to lead while Level Five will take them into a supervisory role and require they exhibit skills that prove they belong there.
We’re all proud of the first group of professionals who made up the first STEP graduating class, and we’re looking ahead to the others who will follow.
