May is National Pet Month, and we wanted to do something that recognizes the impact our pet family makes on the lives of our Northside Hospital family members and also showcase their contributions to the work/life balance we strive for at Northside. Each of the stories is genuine and heartfelt, told in the voices of employees like Kristen, who is a financial planner at Northside. We hope you enjoy them and the glimpse they give you into the type of compassionate care we give everyone at Northside.
Kristen’s story: “I met Linus as a kitten at Good Mews 2 ½ years ago, where I had volunteered for many years but not yet adopted. I was not looking for a pet because I already had a dog and two cats from other rescues, but I fell in love the second I met [Linus] and visited him every day for two weeks until he was old enough to come home with me!
Everyone who meets Linus loves him – he was born with crossed-eyes and eyelid agenesis, where his eyelids did not fully form, so he had to have 2 surgeries his first year.
Despite all of that, he is the sweetest animal who just loves to cuddle with my dog, Avery, the other Peanuts cats, Lucy and Charlie, and me. I am so thankful to have Linus in the family as he brings us all so much love and happiness every single day!”
